UEFA Confirm Champions League Return Dates

Report: UEFA to stage Champions League 'final 8' tournament in Lisbon

UEFA Champions League to resume in Lisbon with final set for Aug. 23 - reports

Portugal has one of Europe's lowest death tolls from covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, and the nation further reopened its doors to worldwide tourists this week.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be staged over one leg, instead of the usual two, with the final to be held on August 23, UEFA deputy general secretary Giorgio Marchetti said after an executive committee meeting held by video conference.

The venue of Inter's match against Getafe is yet to be determined but the match will take place in Germany with the remainder of the tournament to be carried out across four cities, Cologne, Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen.

One-leg quarter- and semi-finals and the final will be played in the Portuguese capital from 12-23 August.

UEFA also confirmed that teams in both competitions can add three players to their squads for the remaining matches, though the players must be already registered at the club.

Atlético Madrid, RB Leipzig, Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain have qualified for the last eight but half the last-16 ties were unfinished when coronavirus forced football to halt. The semi-finals will take place on August 18 and 19 and the final on August 23, also in the Portuguese capital.

"The remaining round of 16 second leg matches will be played on the 7th and 8th of August, depending on the decision if they will be played in the home stadiums or Portugal".
