The software giant is developing a mobile app of its antivirus/anti threat for both mobile operating systems in a bid to improve mobile security.
Nearly within a year after releasing Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) for macOS computers, Microsoft today announced a public preview of its antivirus software for various Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS and Debian.
A note shared by the company on Thursday says that the Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) will not only fight with threats from third-party apps but will further share analytics also. A preview should be available for interested businesses by then. It is reasoned that attackers will pick at an organisation's point of least resistance, and comprehensive protection across all platforms used by an organisation is therefore necessary. The upside to Defender on Desktop is that it's already installed with Windows 10, keeps itself up to date, and Microsoft makes sure it plays well with other programs that connect to the internet.
