This 'Family Feud Canada' Contestant Thought Popeye's Favourite Food Was Chicken

Waterloo family part of viral Family Feud moment

During a Thursday night episode, contestant Eve Dubois fumbled a critical question during the sudden death moment, where one correct answer is needed to advance to play for the grand prize. "Name Popeye's favourite food?"

The audience reaction was a mix of groans and uproarious laughter; the rest of the Dubois family clutched their head in disbelief while one managed an "Oh my God", as the smugness on Eve's face dissolved to one of confusion.

Dubois eagerly hit her buzzer and sang "chicken", complete with a little dance. A response obviously influenced by the popular fast-food chicken chain. I never thought that me just simply saying "chicken" and doing a little dance would go this insane.

Everyone else seemed to know Dee was referencing the popular cartoon character Popeye the Sailor, and not the USA fast-food chain.

She shouted, "Chicken!" She then started doing a celebratory dance thinking that she had won.

'Our survey says you got that right.

After the hilarious game-show fail went viral, Popeye's issued a tweet, telling the family to send a DM to claim $10,000 worth of Popeye's food.

The Dubois family, defending champions who won the big prize in the previous episode, were not to retain their crown once Eve's opponent, the Tomlin family's Logan White, grabbed his mic to deliver the correct response of "spinach".

"About 65% of the USA hasn't tried Popeyes and we know when we get a guest to try a product, it's preferred over other chicken QSR, ' Jose Cil, Restaurant Brands" CEO told Restaurant Business.

Dubois responded by tweeting: "THANK YOU #CHICKEEEN".

Eve's brain fart proved to be a viral moment for Family Feud Canada.

In an interview with CBC News, Dubois said she had to take Friday off from work to deal with all of the attention, including numerous phone calls from across Canada and the United States.

"We've all been laughing about it". I'm in the kitchen, I'm giggling; I'm in the shower, I'm giggling.
