Eden Hazard on the Ballon D'Or: “I would give it to a Liverpool player.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has weighed in on the upcoming Ballon d'Or awards. But if this award is being judged exclusively on the best player over the past year, then Van Dijk beats him.

'I would give it to a Liverpool player, ' Hazard said in an interview with Le Parisien.

Van Dijk was included in the final 30-man shortlist for the 2019 Ballon d'Or award, accompanied by six of his Liverpool teammates Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alisson Becker.

Virgil van Dijk has had a great 2019 but Frenkie de Jong is adamant Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi deserves the Ballon d'Or.

Kylian Mbappe believes Paris Saint-Germain's failures last season have voided his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or.

If the reports are true then the 32-year old will move ahead of rival Cristiano Ronaldo, with both players now having five Ballon d'Or awards to their names.
